Overeaters Anonymous and its World Service
Office (WSO) support individual members and more than 6,500 OA
groups in over 75 countries to carry OA's message of
recovery to compulsive overeaters who are still suffering.
Located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico USA,
the WSO provides this support in a variety of ways. We produce
over 100 literature and recovery-related items, taking member
ideas and turning them into polished products that can be ordered
from our catalog.
We publish Lifeline,
a monthly recovery magazine, made up of stories written by and
for OA members. We produce and distribute A
Step Ahead, a quarterly newsletter that keeps members
up-to-date on OA news. We also provide the Courier,
an annual newsletter for hospitals, institutions, professionals
and the military.
The WSO maintains current directories
on meetings worldwide.
If you are a newcomer and you don't feel at home at your first
meeting, go online or call us to find another meeting that works
better for you. Don't quit before the miracle happens. You can
also participate in the Service
by Mail program to share recovery
by mail or email with members outside your area.
The WSO provides everything new groups
need to get started in the New
Group Starter Kit, as well as guidelines for How
to Start a New Group*. We also give information about
OA to media representatives, health professionals and others
interested in OA's Twelve-Step approach to recovery from compulsive
overeating.
The WSO maintains OA's copyright information.
See the Copyright Requests page to get the information you need
to legally reprint OA copyrighted material in your group or service
body newsletter or in materials for your recovery events.
Working with the Board of Trustees
(BOT), the WSO plans and executes the annual World
Service Business Conference (WSBC) and the triennial World
Service Convention, a joyful gathering of members from around
the world who celebrate hope and recovery in OA.
Although OA members pay no dues or fees,
contributions and literature purchases fund the WSO. In keeping
with OA's Seventh Tradition,
Overeaters Anonymous is member-supported.
If you are a member, when the contributions basket is passed
in meetings, keep in mind that you are supporting your own recovery
by helping to maintain your group, intergroup or national/language
service board, region and World Service Office.
At the WSO, "service" is our middle name,
and we belong to you. Welcome to OA. Welcome home!
