Virtual (online and telephone) meetings are a wonderful option when face-to-face meetings aren't available in your area or your schedule interferes. Service by Mail/Email is another form of support, whether you wish to offer yourself as a sponsor, are looking for a sponsor to help you work the Steps, or simply would like to be a pen pal to other compulsive eaters around world (a directory is mailed quarterly at a cost of $10 per year).

An online or telephone group will be registered with the World Service Office as long as the listed group meets the following criteria (WSBC Policy 1999a, amended 2004 and 2005):

1. Takes place in "real time";
2. Is fully interactive; and
3. Fulfills the definition of an OA group as contained in Subpart B, Article V, Section 1 of Overeaters Anonymous, Inc. Bylaws.

These points shall define an OA group:

1. As a group, they meet to practice the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous.
2. All who have the desire to stop eating compulsively are welcome in the group.
3. No member is required to practice any actions in order to remain a member or to have a voice (share at a meeting).
4. As a group they have no affiliation other than OA.

You can register your online or telephone group by completing and submitting the Online/Telephone Registration/Change Form. By submitting this form, your group agrees to comply with the policy listed above.
